Community based tourism in action

About Nutty's Adventures

Nutty’s Adventures brings together a mixture of high-quality cycling tours, mountain treks and river-based adventures throughout Southeast Asia.

Our philosophy is to minimize the environmental and social impact of tourism activities, whilst providing opportunities for visitors to responsibly contribute to the well-being of the local communities.

We specialize in Community-Based Travel (CBT) that allows tourists to have a closer connection to local people while directly experiencing their lifestyles and cultural traditions.

We are a tour operator situated in the heart of Southeast Asia, and our well-trained English-speaking guides will provide you with remarkable experiences that you’ll be talking about for the rest of your life. Nutty’s Adventures offers a wide variety of 3-day excursions and we also love the challenge of organizing unique tailor-made tours for the individual needs of families, charities, businesses and tour groups.

Consider us your local host for the beauty of Southeast Asia.

Meet the Team

Nutty – The company co-founder is the ultimate jack-of-all-trades at Nutty’s Adventures. He can just as easily be seen perched on a bicycle as a tour guide as sitting in front of a computer doing office work, or in the back room inspecting equipment. If you ever attended a travel fair or tourism conference, then the odds are that you will bump into him one day. Nutty earned his nickname because he walks on the wild side, often taking great risks so that new traveling routes can be offered in support of remote unknown communities. With 13 years’ experience in the tourism industry, Nutty has developed a deep passion for sustainable tourism and responsible travel. He is a strong advocate of Community-Based Tourism involving small rural villages as unique destinations.

Game – Name any place in Thailand and no matter how small or remote and Game will tell you “Oh I know somebody there”. He is just that kind of chap, he knows everybody, a very useful asset in our business. Game has worked in tourism for over 20 years, first as a tour operator and then as the owner of a guesthouse in Chiang Mai. It was only the arrival of Nutty’s Adventures on the scene, in fact, that persuaded him to go back in tour operating, while, of course, still keeping his very successful guesthouse. Always cheerful, always welcoming, if there is anything you need fixing in Chiang Mai, Game with fix it; another useful asset in our business.

Andy – Andy has more years’ experience in the travel industry than he wants to say but we can tell you that it is over 40 years. He has worked in England, Holland, Denmark and for the past 25 years Thailand has been his home. As Sales and Marketing Manager, Andy will be the face of Nutty’s Adventures around the world as he delivers the message of responsible tourism, a personal goal of his for all of these 40 years, and how we can deliver that to you clients. If you want anything from Nutty’s, just drop him a line and he will take care of it.

Pang - A recent new member of our team, Pang first came to us at the beginning of 2015 as an intern while studying tourism at Silapakorn University in Phetchaburi Province. After graduating, Pang could not wait to come back to us to work full time. She is now a licensed tour guide and is always a cheerful face around the office. Happy to help with anything she is our Girl Friday..

Srisurang – Srisurang or "Sri" is a recent new member of our team, she first came to us at the beginning of 2016 as an intern while studying tourism at Rajamangala University of Technology Suvarnabhumi in Ayutthaya Province. After graduating, Bumbim could not wait to come back to work with us full time. She is now a licensed tour guide and is always ready to develop herself as professional member of our team in any way she can. Bumbim is our Girl Friday, helping us in every area she can.

Community Based Tourism

Here at Nutty’s Adventures we are always thinking of how to share the benefits of tourism among the local communities.

We use CBT (Community-Based Tourism) as a community development tool. CBT was established as a concept to encompass tourism that takes environmental, social and cultural sustainability into account. It is managed and owned by the community, for the community, with the purpose of enabling visitors to increase their awareness and learn about local communities and their ways of life and bring benefit to those communities.

Our Role in CBT

Nutty’s Adventures CBT and local homestay programmes are developed and based around those special elements of local lifestyle, culture, people and nature that community members feel proud of and choose to share with their guests.

With Nutty’s CBT trips guests have an opportunity to experience and learn about the community and the environment through fun, “hands-on” activities lead by local community guides. These include jungle trekking, traditional fishing, hand-weaving cloth and using natural dyes, cooking lessons and so much more.

Sharing with the CommunitiesTourism services and activities are planned and managed by local people, working together in a “CBT Group.” Tourism programs are specially designed to support community and environmental projects, to build local skills and to distribute opportunities fairly.

Guests experience and learn about rural people, their lives, cultures and inter-relationships with the natural world. Nutty’s Adventures hope that this will increase respect for local cultures and the environment among hosts and guests.

Nutty’s Adventure is proud to be a bridge for you to cross from different parts of the world to share your spirit and experiences with our friendly, welcoming local communities.
