Sunset at the Fishing VillageDay 1

Morning:

Depart from Bangkok to Ban Prasae in Rayong Province by private minibus (approx. 3.5 hrs). En route to the village we will visit one of the largest fruit orchards in the area, where you can enjoy a selection of tasty fresh fruits straight from the tree.

Afternoon and Evening:

Mangrove Forest Upon arrival at the fishing village you will say hello to your generous hosts and then set off on a bicycle tour of the community. Ban Prasae was one of the largest fishery villages in the area and is located at the end of Prasae River, with plenty of history and traditional way of life.

Prasae used to be one of the most significant fishing ports in Thailand. Now, after the recent huge increase in fuel costs, the Ban Prasae community faces a challenge to maintain their traditional fishing methods and way of life.

Consequently the local people have chosen to open up their homes and operate a small tourism project to help support their traditional way of life.

After lunch take a cycle ride around the area, the highlight of which will be a visit to the fertile mangrove forest called Toong Pong Thong. Afterwards there will be plenty of free time to enjoy yourself and explore the village before settling down for the night in the company of your host family. Or you can take an optional tour of the mangrove forest to see the stunning visual displays of the fire flies.
