Northern lifestyle at Baan Rai Kong Khing

The community of Ban Rai Kong Khing is located in Hang Dong District, just outside of Chiang Mai. Visitors are welcomed to engage with local culture, enjoy Northern Thai cuisine made from organic ingredients, and experience traditional massage. The villagers have built a health-focused community by combining ancestral wisdom with modern medical practices.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Health, Herbs and Lanna Culture

Pick up in the morning from your hotel in Chiang Mai or the airport and transfer to the community of Baan Rai Kong Khing. Upon arrival, meet your host family and begin the day with a short tour of the homestead. The village is known for its wide variety of organically grown herbs. Visit the family garden to learn about their uses, pick a selection, and see how they’re made into herbal compresses for traditional massage. Enjoy lunch made with fresh, local ingredients.

After lunch, relax before heading to the community massage center for a soothing herbal massage. Return to the homestay and prepare for a special evening featuring music and dance. Villagers dress in traditional Lanna-style attire and perform while you enjoy a Khantoke dinner. Overnight at your Baan Rai Kong Khing Homestay.

Day 2: Northern Traditions by Bicycle (B/L-)

Rise early to prepare offerings for the monks during their morning alms round. Join the merit-making ceremony, present the food, and receive blessings. After breakfast, begin a bicycle tour through nearby districts and visit a local market, where you can browse organically grown vegetables and locally produced foods. Continue cycling to the renowned Wat Ton Kwen Temple, one of the last remaining all-wood temples in Chiang Mai built in traditional northern Thai Lanna style.

Cycle back to the homestay, stopping at scenic spots along the way for photos. At the homestay, enjoy the highlight of the day—the Hot Foot Massage. The massage master dips his foot in blessed oil, rubs it over a hot stone, and then applies it to the body, offering a deeply relaxing experience known across the region. While massages are given one by one, the rest of the group joins traditional handicraft workshops, creating paper pendants and folding pandanus flowers.

After a final lunch at the homestay, say farewell to your host family and transfer back to your Chiang Mai hotel or the airport..
