CBT Hilltribe Trek and Homestay 3 days

2 nights Chiang Mai – Pang Mapha (Mae Hong Son) – Chiang Mai

A not-too-challenging trek to meet some of the hill-tribe communities in northern Thailand and learn something about their ways of life.

Day 1: Chiang Mai – Pai – Ban Pha Mon (-/L/D)

Pick up from hotel in Chiang Mai at around 08.00 and set off for Pai along a very beautiful mountain road for about 3 hours. Stop for lunch in Pai at a local Thai restaurant. In the afternoon continue driving for about an hour to the starting point of the CBT trek. Here, meet our CBT local guide and porters. In the afternoon enjoy trekking for about 3 hours through areas where rotational farming is practiced and beneath limestone mountains. Enroute take a short break at Giew-lom viewpoint. In the late afternoon arrive at Ban Pha Mon, a black Lahu village. Check into your homestay and then you are free at leisure to observe and learn how your host family cook traditional Lahu food for your dinner. Time for dinner and overnight at the homestay.

Day 2: CBT trek to Ban Muang Pam (white Karen village) (B/L/D)

After breakfast at your homestay, pack up and continue your trek to a White Karen village. Today’s trek is about 5-6 hours and during the trek you will enjoy the beautiful scenery. Lunch will be a jungle-style picnic prepared by our team.

In the afternoon continue the trek through a beautiful, forested landscape, rice paddy fields, a conservation forest, and also visit some local caves. In the late afternoon arrive at Ban Muang Pam to a warm welcome by the Ban Muang Pam CBT club. Check in at Muang Pam Camp Park or a homestay. Free at leisure to observe and learn how your host family cooks your traditional Karen food for dinner. Dinner and overnight at the homestay.

Day 3: Village walk – Bamboo rafting – Lod Cave – Pai (B/L/-)

After breakfast take a walk to explore the village and then pack up and continue your trek to Lod Cave, about 6.5 Kms away. Have lunch at local Thai restaurant. In the afternoon, visit one of the biggest caves in the north: Lod Cave. Explore the mysterious Lod Cave which consists of three large chambers: Giant Pillar, Doll Cave and the pre-historic wood coffin cave. At the end of the day, transfer back to Chiang Mai which will take about 4 hours, arriving there by 18.30-19.00. Drop off at your hotel.
